Re: Discussion of Male Sexual Assault
It is an interesting point, and in no way would I want to diminish the importance of the topic, but listening to the show, it did make me wonder: So much of the US media is based on afflicting pain and injury. It's present in "humor" (how many movies have you seen where a kick to a crotch is high humor) as well as the basis for entire plot lines. Personally I find much of it very hard to watch due to a visceral reaction to pain being inflicted. So is it only offensive if sexual injury is used as part of joke? But it is valid to use in a plot for a show? And other bodily injury is always ok to joke about or use in shows and movies? If it's not a comedy, anything goes? Watching someone being shot and bleeding isn't my notion of entertainment. But I seem to be a tiny minority.
